Cecilia Levy Produces Eggshell-Thin Cups and Saucers

It is really a great skill that can make beautiful cups and saucers from paper and look like 3D sculptures. This amazing creation is a new idea of designing the left over things into useful things which brought to the exhibition event and got a great support from the visitors. How can these  kinds of cups and saucers become well-known. First of all, just check the material use to produce these stuff. Cups usually used to store liquid but when it made from paper is another point of view of fun and wonder. The next reason is the way of decoration to look attractive and story telling by the picture on those things. The most interesting about that kind of creation is that those stuff made similarly to things used in famous stories or best-selling story books which take a great interest from the visitors. Most people often feel very exciting when they can see or touch the similar things showed in their favorite movie or story book and they may buy them in high price for their daily usage.

Swedish artist Cecilia Levy creates cups, saucers, bowls, plates and saucers out of paper, turning delicate 2D materials into layered 3D sculptures. Although she often uses books from the beginning of the last century, her choices are not narrow as she has also utilized Spider man comics for an entire series.

To create each work, she takes apart the books, magazines, and comics, tearing the pages and pasting small pieces of them back together. Levy explains her works are, “eggshell thin, yet remarkably steady. The story lives on, but in a different shape.”

Cecilia Levy’s background is in graphic design and bookbinding, but began to experiment with dissecting books to produce different shapes in 2009. Since 2013 Levy has worked full time as a paper artist, exhibiting her work in both Sweden and abroad. Photo Credit:
